Note: I have been out of the loop since I married December 2009, especially with my Mom recently breaking her hip. I rarely have the time to keep up with the news except for when I catch a few minutes while Mom watches the news.
I sincerely have some questions about the recent problems with the mayor. From what I remember some Republicans had problems with Dewey Bartlett in the past. I do not remember them in detail but it seemed like the main issue was that he was a political insider.
I do not know about the last few months and why people have been screaming about him. However the most recent controversy as you have stated has triggered even more bad press for the mayor. I was curious about the article in the Tulsa World about how Eagleton had asked to be considered to be I think the city attorney or auditor (forget which) but was denied. Again I do not remember much about John Eagleton either. I guess he is a Republican. I sincerely do not remember. However when I read the article quickly it made it seem like the article was published to decrease Eagleton's credibility in the charges that he included in the letter he submitted to Gov Fallin.
If you have the time I would like a quick synopsis of why some Republicans do not like Bartlett as a political figure. Where there suspicions that he was corrupt long before the recent allegations against him?
Also when was John Eagleton elected to the city council? Again I have been out of the political loop for the past few years. Is he the type to ask a lot of questions like Chris Medlock and the district 6 councilor (I should remember his name - I believe he is back on the council) who they attempted to boot out of office? Is Eagleton a Republican? Again I assume so but do not know.
I know you are probably busy as a husband and father but any info will be appreciated. My Mom mentions how the 'poor' mayor is getting a bad break. I would like to have an idea if all the bad press is justified.
I remembered the name (Jim Mautino). I hope I did not butcher the spelling of his name LOL
