<sarcasm> So the other night the wife and I saw this really great movie on Lifetime, The Memory Keeper’s Daughter. Based on the critically acclaimed book by Kim Edwards, The Memory Keeper’s Daughter starts on a winter night in 1964,
…when a blizzard forces Dr. David Henry to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is perfectly healthy, but the doctor immediately recognizes that his daughter has Down syndrome. For motives he tells himself are good, he makes a split-second decision that will haunt all their lives forever. He asks his nurse, Caroline, to take the baby away to an institution. Instead, she disappears into another city to raise the child as her own...The Memory Keeper's Daughter is a brilliantly crafted story of parallel lives, familial secrets, and the redemptive power of love."The redemptive power of love," I mean, come on…what’s not to love? It was truly heartwarming, and it knocks the Matrix, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek Wrath of Khan off their pedestal as my favorite movies of all time…its just that good. I'm truly grateful to my wife for making me watch this movie...Thanks honey.</sarcasm>

Time to learn how to lock out Lifetime from your TV set. Or how to set your computer to automatically dial your pager and alert you of an urgent need to go into the office.
LOL LOL LOL
When I had cable TV I absolutely went right past Lifetime TV EXCEPT for watching Unsolved Mysteries when they were still doing updates on some of the stories. Two men I have heard of that would watch Lifetime. One was my late Dad. I guess having a daughter he would root for the women to get out of trouble. Another one is the husband of a good friend of mine. They got married a year ago yesterday. They both love watching the channel. I thought 'oh well'. It's not for me.
There is enough drama in real life (not quite like some of those stories however). Why choose to sit and watch that stuff? I got into a conversation with a girlfriend of mine about this. I basically said that this type of show was not entertaining to me. This type of stuff is not something I want to watch and escape with. I could not get her to see what that type of programming was not appealing to me. I gave up after a while.
???
At first I thought you were serious. When you mentioned that it was better than the matrix, I knew something was not right. Then I saw the 'sarcasm' tags.
Look at the bright side: Now she has to watch some sci-fi action thriller with you. What's that? She said "No-Way!" Better luck next time.
First, I did not MAKE him watch, he just happened to be lounging on the couch with his nose in his laptop and was too lazy to move.
Second, I may actually watch two Lifetime movies a year, it's not like I have the channel set to perpetual DVR.
Third, it was a sweet story with good actors, Gretchen Mol, Emily Watson and Dylan McDermott. No Acadamy Awards are on the way but it was sweet.
Finally, I wholeheartedly LOVE, Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, Dr. Who, Three Versions of the StarTrek franchise and I even actually read LOTR (unlike my spouse). I ENJOY Battlestar Gallactica, Lost, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Dune,Survivorman, How It's Made and the foul mouthed boys of the OCC. I have ENDURED more hours of Deep Space Nine, various cosmological documentaries, and the NASA channel's riveting coverage than can be counted. Not to mention the two agonizing hours of my life that I can never retrieve watching 2001 A Space Odyssey.
In summary, it is hardly fair to make fun of me for watching a sweet, light movie on the commercial breaks during the truly depressing news.
Honey... Do you believe in the redemptive power of love?
