Using the same principles that saved me so much gas during my road trip to Charleston, I’ve been driving the speed limit on my motorcycle. Which has been very difficult for me; my bike wants to go fast. I don’t know how fast I can go 0-60 but it is pretty quick. Off the line I usually gun it, leaving all the cars at the light. Also, it is very easy to look down at the speedometer and find that I’m going 20 over the limit.
Nevertheless I’ve kept it slow, letting cars pass me, not gunning it at the light, driving the speed limit, and so on. All the while thinking, “Man this thing gets such great gas mileage; just think how great it will be with conservative driving!”
So this morning when I filled up I calculated the MPG and it came up 42MPG. The same as I always get!!! NO CHANGE! Oh well, I guess it is safer to drive a donorcycle conservatively even if it doesn’t save me any money.
