Last night my wife and I took advantage of a rare opportunity, an evening without the kids. My in-laws took the one-year-old and the three-year-old to Chuck E. Cheese’s. Meanwhile, Stacey and I enjoyed a quiet dining experience at Bonefish Grill.
There are few people Stacey and I trust to watch the kids. As a result, we rarely get a chance to go out together. Sharing an excellent meal, alone, was very nice. We didn’t even spend the entire time talking about the kids, so I guess we still got it goin’ on.

Years ago we asked our Children's pastor about who to trust with your kids and when older, things such as sleepovers. The list was very short. Grandparents - babysitters whom you've known for years.
I asked about aunts and uncles - we had one on each side, He said : single aunts are the best, uncles are not. Married aunts and uncles can be okay IF you've known Brother or Sister in law for years.
He had known of too many "things " that had happened with an unknown ( less than 2 years)inlaw.
As to the question of sleepovers - Grandparents - trusted aunts and uncles. - Short list.
What are you're thoughts?
I agree. I have friends that I'd trust with $1,000 bucks but I don’t think I'd let them watch my kids. In-laws (non-grandparents) are a gray area and I'd rather error on the side caution. We plan to not ever let our kids sleep over at friends houses either.
